Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997, in Mingora, Pakistan. Her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, was a school teacher and her mother, Toor Pekai Yousafzai, was a housewife. Yousafzai has two younger brothers, Khushal and Atal.

Yousafzai began speaking out for the rights of girls in 2009, when she was just 11 years old. She wrote a blog for the BBC Urdu service, in which she described the Taliban's ban on girls' education and the challenges that girls faced in trying to get an education.

In 2012, Yousafzai was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman. She was targeted because of her outspoken advocacy for the rights of girls. Yousafzai was flown to the United Kingdom for treatment, and she eventually recovered from her injuries.

After her recovery, Yousafzai continued to speak out for the rights of girls and women. She has given speeches at the United Nations and other international forums, and she has met with world leaders, including President Obama and Prime Minister David Cameron.

In 2014, Yousafzai was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work. She is the youngest person to ever receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

Yousafzai's story is an inspiration to girls and women around the world. She has shown that even a young person can make a difference in the world. Yousafzai is a role model for all of us who believe that education is a fundamental human right.

Here are some of Malala Yousafzai's most famous quotes:

  • "One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world."
  • "I raise up my voice—not so that I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard...those who have fought for their rights...their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated."
  • "We are all born free and equal. No one should be denied the right to education."
  • "I speak not for myself, but for those without a voice...those who have fought for their rights...their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated."
