About the Author

Louis L'Amour was an American author of Western novels, short stories, and non-fiction. He is one of the most popular and prolific Western writers of all time, with over 100 million copies of his books in print.

L'Amour was born in Jamestown, North Dakota, in 1908. He began writing at a young age, and he published his first novel, Hopalong Cassidy, in 1934. L'Amour went on to write over 100 novels, as well as numerous short stories and non-fiction works.

L'Amour died in Los Angeles, California, in 1988. He was inducted into the Western Writers of America Hall of Fame in 1973, and he received the National Medal of Arts in 1986.
