In 2012, the world watched in horror as the war in Syria escalated. Families were torn apart, homes were destroyed, and millions of people were forced to flee their homeland. Among those who fled were the members of the Al-Khalidi family.

Kelcey Coe's book, Homes: A Refugee Story, tells the story of the Al-Khalidi family's journey from war-torn Syria to a new life in America. Coe weaves together the voices of the family members to create a rich and intimate portrait of their experiences.

The Al-Khalidis are a family of seven: mother, father, and five children. They lived in a small village in Syria before the war broke out. When the fighting reached their village, they were forced to flee. They spent the next several years living in refugee camps in Jordan and Turkey.

In 2016, the Al-Khalidis were resettled to the United States. They now live in a small town in Ohio. They are still adjusting to their new life, but they are grateful to be safe and to have a place to call home.

Homes: A Refugee Story is a powerful and moving account of one family's journey from war to peace. It is a story of resilience, hope, and the transformative power of home.
